GUAM BOARD OF ALLIED HEALTH EXAMINERS (GBAHE)

 

Overview & Mission
The Guam Board of Allied Health Examiners (GBAHE) is guided by the Allied Health Practice Act, found in Title 10, Chapter 12, Article 8 of the Guam Code Annotated (GCA). The primary purpose of the Allied Health Practice Act is “to protect the public against unprofessional, improper, incompetent, unlawful, fraudulent or deceptive practices by persons who practice the healing art. This Act, therefore, shall provide for the proper guidelines, such as education requirements, continuing education requirements, licensing and renewal procedures, professional conduct, and any other matter, which the Board deems appropriate in serving the interests of the community. The primary purpose of this Act is to protect the public against unprofessional, improper, incompetent, unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive practices by persons who practice the healing art. This Act, therefore, shall provide for the proper guidelines, such as education requirements, continuing education requirements, licensing and renewal procedures, professional conduct and any other matter, which the Board deems appropriate in serving the interests of the community.” 10 GCA § 12801.


Professions Licensed and Regulated by the GBAHE
The GBAHE is responsible for the licensure and regulation of the following disciplines, as outlined in 10 GCA Chapter 12 and its respective articles:

  • Article 9. Acupuncturist.
  • Article 10. Audiologist.
  • Article 11. Chiropractor.
  • Article 12. Clinical Psychologist and Licensed Psychology Associate.
  • Article 13. Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Marriage and Family Therapist.
  • Articles 7 and 14. Occupational Therapist and Occupational Therapist Assistant.
  • Article 15. Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Article 18. Speech-Language Pathologist and Speech-Language Pathology Assistant.
  • Article 19. Veterinarian.
  • Article 20. Respiratory Therapist (Registered and Certified).
  • Article 21. Clinical Dietitian and Nutritionist.
  • Article 22. Nursing Home Administrator.

Regular Scheduled Board Meetings
Regular scheduled board meetings are held every first (1st) Friday of every month at 12:00 p.m. at the Health Professional Licensing Office Conference Room located at 194 Hernan Cortez Ave, Terlaje Professional Building Suite 209, Hagatna, Guam.
